Happy New Year! Wow I can’t believe that it’s 2017. This is my first post of the year and I am pleased that this is my first story. It’s the U.S. Mints 225th anniversary and they will be releasing a NEW coin that depicts Lady Liberty as a Black Woman with Natural Hair!

I’ve always hated the concept of “New Year’s Resolutions”. The idea of a new you just because the Earth has circled the Sun yet again, seems so irrelevant to me. There are a lot of things happening in outer space that most people care nothing about. So what’s makes you new in the new year?
Every year New Year millions upon millions of people sit down and decide what their New Year’s Resolutions are gonna be. New Year’s resolutions are tasks, in my opinion, that we set ourselves up for failure for while trying to achieve them every year.
For many years in my family we have celebrated Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is an awesome kind of holiday that can be celebrated by people of any and all races, creeds and religions. It’s really a cultural celebration of heritage & African American people and community. This holiday was founded in 1965 by Dr. Maulana Karenga. It is a week long celebration that takes place beginning December 26th through January 1st. Even though you can choose how you want to celebrate, there are a few key symbols, words and activities that are crucial to doing so appropriately.

My family and I really enjoyed ourselves at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. We met up with our give away winners and enjoyed an action packed show that was filled with everything that your medieval heart desires.
There is nothing I love more than attending fundraisers for good causes especially when it has to do with kids. Tower of Talent was one of those fundraisers.
Easing up on the red meats? Give this twist on regular chili a try. My White Chili recipe turns out great everytime and my family loves it. Feel free to swap out whatever you want. Recipes are meant to be customized AND shared.
