I received this car from Toyota for a 7 day test drive. All opinions are my own.
What a weekend! Afropunk blew into town elevated my mind and disappeared as suddenly as it came! In just one weekend I got to attend a VIP Dinner with the Toyota Green Initiative, received tickets to Afropunk AND go to do it all in this super cute little 2017 Toyota Prius Three in Blue Crush Metallic!
This was my first time ever driving a Prius or any other electric/gas hybrid vehicle. Of course, I had my reservations about it with regard to driving it in Atlanta traffic. Questions like: How well will it accelerate? How does it handle? And most importantly can i fit it in a small parking space? I was able to get all of my questions answered and more with my week long test drive.
I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the speed, acceleration and handling of the 2017 Toyota Prius Three. I mean other than someone telling me that this was a “hybrid vehicle” there were no other indicators in terms of how it drives. Does that make sense? Ok well and also I never actually heard the engine. It was completely silent.
2017 Toyota Prius Three
With Atlanta traffic, you have to change lanes, stop and accelerate a lot. The Toyota Prius Three has a Hybrid Synergy Drive System 1.8 Liter DOHC 16v 4 Cylinder Engine that allows you to do that with no hesitation or pull. You cannot hear this engine when you start the car. At times we didn’t know whether it was on or not. Good thing that it has a very elaborate information board or 4.2″ Color Dual Multi Info Display plus an additional 7″ High Res Display. Both helped to let me know where my fuel level was and where I was.
With all of the safety features this car practically drives itself. I’m talking features like: Traction Control, Pre Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Alert! I felt safe knowing that these extra bells and whistles were there to make sure that me and my family stayed safe.
We had plenty of trunk space too!
This one came with the Advanced Technology Package which includes:
Power tilt/slide moon roof with sliding sun shade.
Color Head Up Display (HUD) with speedometer, navigation and Hybrid System Indicator
It took some getting used to operating the gear shift. To Park all you have to do is push a button.
With a sticker price of 28,500 this little car packs a punch. It lacks nothing when it comes to efficiency and it gets up to 52 MPG. You really cant beat it.
