If I want to piss my teenaged daughter off quick, then all I have to do is ask her if the comic book character that she is talking about is Marvel (meaning Marvel Comics) or DC (meaning DC Comics). Yeah apparently they are two different things and asking such a thing is completely asinine. (Imagine her horror when I showed up as a modified Black BatGirl to her Miss Captain America on Halloween! Eeek!) She loves comic books and is really into Marvel characters… Iron Man, ummm Agent Carter, Agents of the Shield, Nick Fury, Captain America, Thor… all of them. She is the youngest of 4 and her oldest brother was also a comic book fan.

Race Together was the name of Starbucks genius 2015 campaign to address race relations in America. Basically, the CEO had the idea that if their Barista’s write “Race Together” on their customer’s coffee cups that they would then sufficiently be able to solve America’s race problems through their cups and love. It was a nice idea. Well intended but not thought out very well. So imagine my surprise when one of my favorite actresses, Thandie Newton (Beloved, Crash, The Chronicles of Riddick, The Slap) had to take to Twitter to smack the hands of the coffee giant about an offensive statue that she saw in one of the Starbucks locations.
