My mom and I had a great afternoon over at Pollo Tropical for a Blogger Meet & Greet. We really enjoyed their delicious menu filled with island inspired Caribbean cuisine. I am not an expert nor do I have any experience with Caribbean cuisine so I come into this review very green! Pollo Tropical is a casual dining restaurant that is new to Atlanta but very popular in Florida. Here you can get your food to go but you can also get it served to you on real plates with real utensils should you decide to dine in. They have a full menu with starters that included items like: Sweet Plantains & Fried Yucca and Sides like: Red & Black beans & Caribbean Corn Souffle. They also have platters that include a meat, roll and 2 sides. My favorite was the “trio” option. This menu choice allows you to get a little taste of everything. You get a 1/4 chicken platter then you can choose from their variety of meats which are the Mojo Roast Pork, Grilled Pork Loin, Caribbean Ribs, Calypso Beef or Grilled Wings then you get two sides.
I selected the Trio: 1/4 Chicken, Grilled Wings and Mojo Roast Pork. My two sides: Caesar Salad, Kernel Corn, Sugar Cane roll came with it and I also tried the sweet Plantains. EVERY thing was good!
My mom also selected the Trio: 1/4 Chicken, Grilled Wings & Caribean Ribs. Her two sides: Rice & Red beans and Yellow Rice w/vegetables, Sugar cane roll came with it and she also tried the Yucca and Caribbean Corn Souffle! She loved it all and even polished off her dessert which was Guava Cheesecake (I couldn’t take a pic of that because she ate it too fast)
The “Saucing Island” was very cool with 10 signature sauces, including Curry Mustard, Guava BBQ, Pineapple Rum and Cilantro Garlic.

The restaurant was nice and clean. The atmosphere was very bright (love the beachy, tropical decor.) The prices were reasonable, the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! Go check them out!!
In the past 4 years seven Pollo Tropical locations have popped up in Metro Atlanta. Right now you can find them in: Lawrenceville, Atlanta, Kennesaw, Alpharetta, Cumming, John’s Creek and Austell. Locations in Woodstock, Buford and Marietta coming soon!
