The 8th Annual AAMBC (African Americans on the Move Book Club) Literary Awards is coming to Atlanta on the weekend of June 10 -12th and I cannot wait to be a part of the excitement. The AAMBC Literary Awards is an event that honors writers of urban fiction. It was created in February 2008 by a then twenty year old, Tamika Newhouse. What started as an online book club grew into a national phenomenon. The sole purpose was to expose the unknown writer and to give them the opportunity to win accolades.
This year’s celebration lasts the entire weekend and it is jam packed with urban authors, honorees and celebrity guests including model/reality star Cynthia Bailey and renowned author, Omar Tyree plus more! Here is the schedule:
June 10 – AAMBC Urban Book Bash
June 11 – AAMBC Red Carpet Literary Awards (Hosted by Cynthia Bailey)
June 12 – AAMBC Books & Cocktails (Moderated by Stacey Taylor)
The AAMBC Awards Weekend wraps up with an up close and personal chat with two national best selling authors, Victoria Christopher Murray and ReShonda Tate Billingsley. I (@TheSistahChick) will be there to initiate this chat and moderate a discussion with these two lovely ladies along with some afternoon cocktails and an intimate book signing. This will be a meet and greet to remember!
