Natural Hair ATL Road Trip sponsored by Kia

roadtrip

I got together with a few of my friends to take a lil road trip through Atlanta and boy did we have a ball! We rode in style in a Kia Sorento provided by our good friends over at Kia.  The brainchild of Swarthy Daisy, the Natural Hair ATL Road Trip was organized as a day long tour of various natural hair salons in Atlanta.  The travelling group consisted of Swarthy Daisy (host) The SistahChick (speaker) Kiki of MahoganyKnots (speaker) and Pamela of Koils by Nature (speaker).  We were also joined by 2 bloggers Mandi (PattyCakePearls) and KiwitheBeauty.  We made three stops to the following Atlanta salons.  The Good Hair Shop, Samplista’s Beauty Boutique Salon, and Natural Xpressions.

3 stops 1

1st Stop was to The Good Hair Shop in Lithonia.  There I got to get up close and personal with salon owner, master loctician and stylist Kiyomi Rollins.  Kiyomi’s quaint little spot is just full of positive energy and is way more than just a shop.  Complete with a full service salon and “zen” relaxation room, The Good Hair Shop promotes a natural lifestyle.

I got to ask Kiyomi specifically about natural hair as it relates to kids.  She talked about products to use for various hair textures and also about retaining moisture and preventing dryness.

The media team was awesome meeting us at each stop!  S/O to Kini (@VarietyCurlsApparel) Turkesha (@Naturalbabydol1) Mandi (@PattyCakePearls) Kiwi (KiwiThebeauty)

Stop #2 was to Samplista’s Beauty Boutique Salon where Kiki spoke about growth and length retention. The round table discussion was joined by many experts in the industry including salon co owner Robin Groover.

Stop #3 was to Natural Xpressions Salon.  Here we got to watch Master Stylist (aka Awesome Hair Do Guy) Tas demonstrating the proper way to handle natural hair.  We also learned about Pamela’s wonderful Koils By Nature product line.  Tas also gave us tips and suggestions on what you should be expecting from your stylist.

Overall we had an awesome day!  I simply love all of these ladies and I feel that we all bonded as we took this journey.  It was a pleasure to join them to showcase 3 thriving Black owned and operated salons in our community. The knowledge that we received was worth it already, but having Kia to provide us with a car to roll in was just icing on the cake.  It is apparent that everyone involved loves their natural hair.  Check out the video to find out exactly why we do!
