Celebrating the End of Summer at Myrtle Beach

Every year at the end of the Summer right before school starts my brother and I bring our families together for a few days at Myrtle Beach.  We decided a few years back that we wanted to make sure our children are as close as we were growing up, so we started meeting up there.  With him living in Indiana and us being in Georgia, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina became the perfect midpoint for us to connect.

We always rent a home/condo when we vacation together.  Having everyone in the same space helps us to bond during downtime when we aren’t out exploring or at the beach.  Since my brother is an avid golfer we picked a property on a golf course. We stayed in a condo located at Barefoot Golf Resort.  Every morning we could walk out onto the course and see the early birds getting a few holes in.  It was kind of cool and every one was so friendly.

If you live in Metro Atlanta, Myrtle Beach is only a 5 hour drive.  Now there are travel snobs among us who give all American beaches a hard time. As if you can’t enjoy the ocean waves and watch the same sun set unless you’re in a foreign country.  Don’t let those people sway you from visiting this cozy little beach town.  It’s very economical and a great spot for a quick vacation with your family.

There are so many things to do.  You can golf for one thing.  Myrtle Beach is known for its celebrity style golf courses.

You can enjoy long walks and play in the waves at the beach.  Myrtle beach has 60 miles of beautiful beaches so you can really take your pick.

There are plenty of family entertainment centers like, Family Kingdom Amusement Park, Ripley’s Aquarium, Alligator Adventure and Hollywood Wax Museum.

For the adults bring some wine and kick back or visit the local winery.

Nothing like a delicious homemade Seafood boil it’s the perfect vacation meal!

What you decide to do while you are there is up to you. When it’s time to get away don’t stress over money or fret over time.  Myrtle Beach is a short distance from Atlanta and an inexpensive flight from anywhere on the East Coast. Rent a home there and bring your own food. Pack your family up and have a great weekend!

Many thanks to Toyota for providing us with a brand new Toyota Yaris iA to travel in for this amazing end of Summer vacation.
