Wagyu & Wine at The Capital Grille

I attended the Wagyu & Wine Event on behalf of Atlanta Food & Lifestyle Blogger Society.  All opinions are my own.

This was my first time visiting The Capital Grille in Buckhead.  I was immediately impressed upon entering the venue with it’s private clublike decor and courteous, welcoming staff.  I was there along with my husband for the Wagyu & Wine Event and we were seated in the Lounge Area.

Wagyu & Wine

Wagyu & Wine is a special that is being offered from now until November 18th.  It offers pairings that include 3 gourmet Wagyu Burgers and 3 Wines from Ste Michelle Wine Estates, the oldest wine making family in history.

What is Wagyu?

Wagyu is a Japanese breed of beef cattle.  The meat is far superior to the ground beef that most of us are used to.

We got to try each of the gourmet Wagyu burgers that were offered which were:

Caprese-Style Wagyu Burger

with Heirloom Tomato, 15 year aged Balsamic and Fresh Mozzarella

Wagyu Cheeseburger

with Havarti and Aged Vermont White Cheddar

Caramelized Onion Wagyu Burger

with Grand Cru Gruyere and Shallot Aioli

Lobster-Mac-Cheese-The-Capital-Grille

We were also served delicious Lobster Mac & Cheese, Spicy Calamari and Truffle Fries.

I enjoyed learning how to pair these gorgeous burgers with the following wines:

(presented by Holly Beach from Ste Michelle Wine Estates)

Villa Antinori, Chianti Classico Riserva, Tuscany, 2013

90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Antica, Atlas Peak, Napa Valley, 2014

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Col Solare, Columbia Valley, Washington 2014

85% Cabernet Sauvignon

My absolute fav was the 2013 Antica Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.  This Napa style Cabernet combines the old world innovations of the Antinori family with the land and climate of Napa to create this elegant wine. This rich Cab showcases concentrated blackberry, cherry, currant and spice flavors. It pairs very well with roasted, grilled and stewed meats.  It also paired well with the Wagyu Burger!

It was a classy evening with fine wines and expensive meats.  The Capital Grille is like a very exclusive, members only, club with its leather bar stools and wood grain walls, only its not, its open to everyone.  For more information about The Capital Grille check them out on Facebook.
