This post and my attendance at Fully Charged LIVE was sponsored by Resource Media, Inc.  All opinions are my own.

I had the pleasure of attending my first Fully Charged LIVE over the weekend.  Fully Charged LIVE is an offshoot of The Fully Charged Show.  It is the brainchild of its host, Robert Llewellyn.  What started as a UK based YouTube channel 10 years ago is now an international event.  It is the World’s Best Electric Vehicle Show and has it all comes to all things EV (electric vehicles)

We cover every conceivable form of clean technology and clean energy generation and storage that there is. ~Fully Charged Show founder, Robert Llewellyn.

Fully Charged Live

The EV industry in the United States is at the start of its journey to clean energy and electric vehicles.  Fully Charged brought their show to the US for the first time ever.  It was held in the beautiful city of Austin, TX at Circuit of the Americas. Austin because of their advancements in Wind and Solar technology.  This 2-day event had it all including:

Live Sessions/Panel

Rivian Blazing A Trail to Electric PickUp Trucks – EV Auto maker, Rivian offers a line of EV pickups and SUV’s that you would have to see to believe.

Rivian All Electric SUV & Pick Up

Affordability:  EV’s For New Drivers – Presented facts regarding electric vehicles that the average consumer might not be aware of.  Tesla may be leading in the EV space but there are many other makers who strive to make affordable products for the average consumer.

Russell Corbin Director of Student Affairs for Electric Auto Association

How is the US Doing on Energy & Transport – The United States as a whole is actually not doing as well as we could be in this area. One question that came to my mind during this panel is why policy makers don’t make mandatory changes knowing that people are literally dying and ailing from traffic pollution alone.

50+ Exhibitors

Exhibitors came from all over the world to show us their take on the EV industry.  I got to speak to EV owners, designers and experts.  The EV conversions that take a gas consuming car and turn them into EV’s was another interesting aspect.

Who knew that you could convert your current vehicle into an electric vehicle using pre owned parts, thereby saving you tons of money? I also talked to a guy who had built his own electric vehicle and also integrated solar technology into the charging of that vehicle (through solar panels in his home)

50+ Electric Vehicles

When you think of Electric Vehicles ie: transport don’t think of it as just cars because it also includes: trains, planes, buses, scooters, bikes, hoverboards and any other thing that we use to get from point A to point B.

The Arcimoto All Electric FUV (Fun Utility Vehicle)

Test Drives and Ride-alongs

The ride-alongs were given by EV owners who volunteered to drive people around to show them different things like the aesthetics, smooth & quiet rides, and of course the power of various vehicles. Teslas of many makes and models were well represented.

Teslas were also used as shuttles to drive people back and forth to the parking lots and rideshare areas.  There is nothing like being chauffeured around all day in a Tesla!

Porsche introduced its new all electric Taycan

Chevy was there offering test drives of its EV Bolt.  You may remember me testing out the Bolt at the Chevy Find New Roads Event here in Atlanta.  Testing out the e-bikes was a great experience, especially since I hadn’t been on a bike of any kind in 20 some odd years!

The folks at Mod Bikes were patient with me and really sold me on their model. I was impressed with everything from the style of the bike to the power boost that you get while riding, to the removable battery and bike lock.  Did I mention the comfort gel seats?

Fully Charged LIVE was a wonderful experience.  I made a lot of new friends and had fun hanging out in the EV World.

This event really introduced me to a new way of thinking when it comes to technology, clean energy and electric vehicles.  In my next post I will talk about the safety and affordability of electric vehicles as it relates to the African American community.
