Why these grown white women continue to attack our young African American sisters is really beyond me. Twitter is all abuzz this morning because of comments made by reality star, Guiliana Rancic about Disney and Dancing with the Stars Celebrity Zendaya Coleman. We dealt with this last year when former Communications director for U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.), Elizabeth Lauten attacked the Obama girls on Facebook.
The trouble began when 18 year old, Zendaya decided to sport beautiful loc’d hair to the 2015 Oscars. I think she looks stunning.
Apparently though 40 year old E! Fashion Police host, Rancic disagrees. She even felt it necessary to belittle and diminish this young lady by saying that she looks like she smells like patchouli oil and weed… I can’t make this stuff up folks. Check the vine clip below and see for yourself.
Zendaya fired back on Instagram and made me so proud with her very well put and mature response:
My daughter loves Zendaya and watches her on Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover. I came to appreciate her talent when I saw her on Dancing With The Stars as the shows youngest contestant. I feel like I must speak out when people attack our babies, but instead of addressing Rancic I would like to just say one thing to Princess Zendaya:
Dear Zendaya, You are beautiful. Please don’t let the comments from this bitter old woman get to you. We see you. We love you and we want to keep watching you shine! Peace & Love,
