I honestly had no idea who Elizabeth Lauten was until today. Today, I found out that she is the Communications director for U.S. Representative Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.). I also found out today (via Twitter) that she has used her voice, social network and her office to publicly slam children. Those children happen to be our beloved Obama daughters, Sasha and Malia Obama. That’s right the daughter’s of the President of the United States. Here is what was posted on her Facebook page.
Apparently, in today’s society our Black children cannot walk down the street (rih Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and my own brother Tyvise Moore). They cannot play with bb guns. (rih Tamir Rice) and now they cannot be human and have facial expressions according to Lauten.
My goodness nothing pisses me off more than adults attacking kids on the internet. I’ve written about this before in regards to people picking on Blue Ivy’s natural hair. I don’t get why this is ok? Kids are people too! I also don’t get why President Obama seems to receive so much more verbal disrespect than the other leaders of the free world. Lauten, a GROWN woman, is speaking as though these girls have committed some terrible offense by being human and standing there with their father. They happen to be by his side at the annual Turkey Pardon.
After reading an article linked on Facebook from the conservative site Mad World News about how the Obama daughters “unleash[ed] their annoyance” at President Barack Obama’s annual (and hokey) pre-Thanksgiving tradition of pardoning turkeys, Lauten was incensed beyond reason. ~TheRoot.com
I generally don’t bring this type of heaviness to my page, but my page is also a reflection of my life and what I experience. Lately my own heart has become heavy with what is going on right now in society. I am writing about this and making a big deal about it because Black kids appear to be under attack on every level, and as a mother of sons and a daughter i feel that someone needs to stand for them. This is my way of doing that.
Dear Elizabeth Lauten,
You are a grown ass woman. Find something else to do with your time beside bullying some children who have more integrity & influence in their pinky finger than you and your whole life. Who are you anyway? Get it together sister.
