Culinary Fight Club Presents Things With Wings Cooking Competition!

Ever since I had my very first Culinary Fight Club experience last Summer, I just had to have more.  When I heard that CFC was holding a new event I jumped at the opportunity to be there. This time it was for their Things with Wings competition right here in Atlanta at No Mas Cantina.  No Mas Cantina is one of Atlanta’s top Mexican eateries. Their atmosphere is amazing and so are their Margaritas!

Culinary Fight Club is a non profit organization that hosts cooking competitions all across the United States.  All of the proceeds go to Fight2Feed.org.  The venue generally provides Nosh and beer/wine.  The Chefs provide delicious bites for everyone to taste.  Attendees get tickets and get to make a Taster’s Choice decision on who the winners are by dropping their tickets in the ballot box of the chef of their choice.  Each event has a different theme.

Things With Wings

This time the theme was Things With Wings which means that the chef could use anything with wings in their recipe (including pterodactyl!)

There were 3 chefs total and all brought their A-game for a chance to compete in Chicago and an opportunity to win 10K.   The winner of that competition gets entered into a World championship that has a 100K prize!!

The contestants were :  Chef Iliana Cordero, Chef Tim Magee and Chef Laurel Elliott.

The judges for the Things With Wings competition were Chef Jarvis Belton, Melody Voirin and Josh Reeves

Meet the Chefs

The chefs pulled out all the stops and we tasted everything from quail wings to chicken sausage.

The winner was Chef Laurel Elliott!  She prepared Hickory Smoked Bacon Infused Garlic Parmesan Wings with a Coconut Milk Wilted Spinach Salad and a Mango Citrus Vinaigrette and it was indeed to die for.

The spinach wilted in coconut milk was so tender and delicious.  The wings were tasty.  I knew they were gonna be excellent when I saw Laurel frying them in bacon fat!  Don’t tell anyone but… I went went back for thirds!! Shhhh.

The winner Chef Laurel was kind enough to take a pic with me

What I love about Culinary Fight Club competitions is that you get to see the chefs choose their ingredients.  You get to watch them prepare their unique creations right there in front of you.  You can even talk to them if you want. And finally they plate and you taste.  Everything is alway fresh and delicious with never heard of combinations that you may never experience again. There is always a DJ and an MC which takes this culinary event to another level! Knowing that a percentage of the proceeds from these events is donated is really the icing on the cake.  You best believe I will be back for the next Atlanta event and I encourage you to come on out too! In fact you can stay tuned to TheSistahCafe.com with more Culinary Fight Club Events!
