There were a lot of “firsts” going on this weekend! It was the 1st Annual Georgia Seafood Fest. This was my first time at “The Battery Atlanta” where it was held. It was also my first time covering this event!
Georgia Seafood Fest
This inaugural Georgia Seafood Fest brought together the sights, sounds and tastes of Georgia’s coastal seafood scene. The highlight of the Georgia Seafood Fest was the fast paced cooking competition. It was hosted by none other than Chef Jernard Wells.
There were four judges and three full rounds of spirited cooking fun. White House Chef, Guy Mitchell, was there as a tasting judge. The chef contestants came to win and executed everything perfectly based on the finished plates.
These Judges had a tough decision to make.
While the Cooking competition was going on there was so much more to do.
The VIP section was upstairs and there was a lot of goodies up there. VIP Georgia Seafood Fest attendees received drink tickets for a variety of cocktails and craft beer. We were served fresh made Clam Chowder as well as Shrimp Po Boys. The Shrimp Po Boys had butter sauteed shrimp that was seasoned to perfection.
And the winner is…
The winner of the 1st Annual Georgia Seafood Fest was Chef Scottie Johnson! The runner up was Chef Marshall Rogers and the People’s Choice Winner is Chef Lisa Washington. All three earned a golden ticket to the 2020 World Cooking Competition.
As an Atlanta foodie, I am into it for more than just the perfectly posed instagram post. I’m in it for the knowledge, food, fellowship and of course, the drinks. I also like meeting new people until eventually faces become familiar. The 1st Annual Georgia Seafood was indeed a success. Can’t wait till next year!
