Twelve Eighty Inspired Dining is a gourmet restaurant located inside Woodruff Art Center.
Twelve Eighty Inspired dining boasts a menu featuring local, farm-to-fork, offerings for everyone to enjoy. But it’s more than just inspired dining. It is an artistic display of food that I will never forget.
The space that houses this eatery is wide open with a futuristic industrial feel. The bold chrome art and metallic/wood accents really turned the room into a work of art. With a backdrop as dope as this I knew the food would be beautiful too.
And so it was. Since it was a media event to taste the Fall menu each course was introduced individually. We were given separate utensils for each small bite that was served. Cocktails were served with each course as well. We got to try the entire menu so it was a lot of little bites but plenty to eat and drink. Everything was indeed pleasing to the eye and equally as pleasing to the taste.
We were greeted with flutes of Gramona La Cuvee as we entered and were seated.
The Blackberry Mojito and the Skinny Margarita were two of my favorite cocktails of the many that were served.
Blackberry Mojito
Bacardi Light, Muddled Mint, Blackberry Syrup, Fresh Lime, Fresh Blackberries
Skinny Ginger Margarita
Hurradura Reposado, Lime, Ginger Syrup, Agave Nectar and Fresh Lime
From main appetizer, to main entree to dessert everything was impeccably prepared and served. We tried many delectable dishes but these are the ones that stood out to me.
Pimento Deviled Eggs
Pimento Cheese, Apple-Wood Smoked Bacon, Fresh Herbs and Smoked Chilli Cream over a bed of mixed greens and pomegranate.
The “High Museum” Pastrami
Shaved Pastrami, House Made Slaw, Gruyere Cheese, 1000 Island Dressing and Marble Rye.
Crusted Ahi Tuna Nicoise Salad
Field Greens, Peruvian Purple & Fingerling Potatoes, Tiny Beans, Blistered Grape Tomato, Fresh Radishes, Egg, Nicoise Pesto, Citrus Vinigraigrette.
I would have never imagined that all of these things would taste good together but they really did. Think of a really fancy deconstructed Tuna Salad. This salad was bursting with flavors and textures.
All of the desserts were pretty and to die for. There were three: Classic Creme Brulee, Almond Tres Leches Cake and Pots De Creme Chocolate Pudding.
I have never been to Twelve Eighty outside of this media event. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back to experience these dishes and the atmosphere again.
