An Afternoon at Jim Adams Farm & Table

I visited this establishment on behalf of Atlanta Food & LifeStyle Bloggers Society.  All opinions are my own.

Sustainability has been a long time project/hobby of mine.  Whether it be through sharing information about it on my blog and other publications or making YouTube videos about growing my own food. I do what i can to help spread the word about saving the worlds natural resources.  It is for this reason that I was very excited to visit Jim Adams Farm & Table.

Jim Adams Farm & Table

This new Atlanta eatery does more than serve delicious food.  It is a self sustaining farm to table establishment that uses locally grown ingredients on its menu.  Not only that but it encourages its own community by providing grow boxes through out the neighborhood that it sits in.

The owner, Chuck Meadows, comes from a farming family and takes pride in telling the story of how Jim Adams Farm & Table came to be. After visiting the land in Green County, Georgia, that his family has owned for hundreds of years, he realized that they were farming in raised beds that sat on concrete.  He immediately got the idea that he could do the same thing in Atlanta and create an eatery that grows its own food! He named his place after the relative that first established that farm back in the 1900’s, Jim Adams and the rest is history.

Upon arriving at Jim Adams Farm & Table I immediately noticed the raised grow boxes that sit across the road from the restaurant.  These have been provided for the community to come and grow their own veggies in.  There are more grow boxes situated all over the area with more to come.

The building itself looks industrial from the outside but once you get on the inside its like a miniature farmers market.  Its very spacious and open with an interesting Atlanta related mural on the wall and a play area for little kids near the front.  You can pick and purchase fresh produce.  You can sample gluten free gelato.  They have vegan pastries and all sorts of delicious things.  There is plenty of seating for a comfortable meal and you can watch it being made if you want since the kitchen is open.

Jim Adams Farm & Table menu boasts breakfast items plus Soups, Salads and Sandwiches.  During our visit we got to sample the following items:

The Delilah – Chicken Salad Sandwich

Springer Mountain chicken breast on H & F bread.  Chicken poached with rosemary, bay leaves, parsley, thyme, peppercorn, celery and carrots with an in-house, low-fat, low-cholesterol chicken salad sauce.

The Riverview – Salmon Sourdough Sandwich

Chilean Salmon, organic spring mix on H & F Bread. Salmon roasted with Olive Oil, lemon juice, sea salt, and cracked black pepper.

Spinach Salad (vegan)

Spinach, Mushrooms and chopped veggies

Sweet Potato Ginger Soup

Sweet Potatoes from Haynes Farm in Culman Alabama

Collard Green Soup (vegan)

Collards from West Georgia Farmers Co Op and Cabbage from Jim Adams Farm

We also purchased Vegan Mango Gelato, Vegan Bluberry Muffins and Gluten Free Chocolate Brownies.

It is important to note that Jim Adams Farm & Table uses ingredients that are locally sourced.  All of their sauces are made in house, and they focus on food that is low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-sugar and low-sodium.

Everything was fresh and good.  Like eating food straight out of the garden and onto your plate. It felt really healthy. The prices were very reasonable with nothing being over $12.  My favorite thing was the Salmon SourDough Sandwich.  My daughter enjoyed the Chocolate Gelato.  I would definitely like to visit this place again to try full size versions of the menu items.

Jim Adams Farm & Table is located in Metro Atlanta on Bolton Road. For more information go to their Facebook page.
