I attended this event as a member of Women of Culinary. All opinions are my own.
The deeper I get into this food game, the more I love it! The Dopest Chef Tata threw down at her DOPE by Design event that was a fusion of food, art and fashion. It was held at an eclectic converted space near Castleberry Hills in Atlanta. There was exposed brick, iron and open duct work. It all served as a wonderful backdrop to Chef Ta-TaNisha “TaTa” Snead, Owner of Food Swingz, beautiful hand made artwork.
I knew that we were in for a treat once I viewed the beautiful venue, table settings and smelled the aroma of everything that was being prepared.
The Women of Culinary Loved the Bliss Booth! I always have fun with Linda, Cindy Rodeo and Serena!

We enjoyed mini cocktails and beautiful appetizers while we mingled and waited for dinner to be served. My favorite appetizer was the General Tso’s Cauliflower. Man was it good! If you are going to eat Cauliflower, this is the way you should eat it.
The Eggplant Tacos were filled with a Corn Medley and it was very tasty as well. I love that she had these vegetarian options. There was something for everyone.
5 courses followed with each one being more delectable than the next.
Course 1
Sir Le Dutchess
Jumbo lump crab over a light and airy Dutchess potato drizzled with a smoked Taragon champagne butter sauce.
Course 2
Drunken Quail Ramen
Asian Spiced Rice noodles with a beer spiked sweet & spicy boulliabaisse topped with smoked Quail Wings, Bok Choy and Asian style vegetables.
It was full of Asian flavors, I could taste the soy and spices. The Quail Wings were tender and very tasty. All of the vegetables were cooked just right. There was also a tiny poached Quail Egg in the bowl. This soup was so good that I drank the broth from the bowl when I was done eating everything else. Etiquette be damned when it comes to getting great tasting food into my belly!
Course 3
Palate Cleanser
Smoked Key Lime Sorbet
I don’t really know how to describe the flavor of this crisp cool palate cleanser. It tasted as if someone left an open container of Key Lime Sorbet near a camp fire. All of the flavors from the smoke and wood were present with each bite of sorbet. It was a wonderful treat.
Course 4
Ying & Yang vs Surf & Turf
Duck fat crusted Black grouper over creamy masa porridge and Asian glazed smoked carrots vs Lamb Fritz mothered in smoked Lobster corn bisque.
I admit that while eating the Black Grouper I had no idea what it was. I just know that it was fresh tasting, flaky and good. I TASTED PORRIDGE FOR THE FIRST TIME. It must be an acquired taste. The Lamb Fritz smothered in smoked Lobster Corn Bisque over Potatoes was very hearty, savory and filling. It’s the kind of dish that can comfort you. The kind that you may need to take a nap behind.
Course 5
Dessert Surprise!
This surprise came in a bowl made of chocolate! Inside of that bowl was vanilla bean ice cream, pureed strawberries topped with a sweetly breaded/fried banana and sprinkled with powdered sugar! Oh MY! It was decadent and delicious and you eat the bowl!!
Thank you @thedopestchef for showing us such a great time this evening ❤ #WoCulinaryApproved #DopeByDesign #Foodie #nomnomnom #atlanta #desserts pic.twitter.com/PTceIqTRda

The entire thing closed with a gorgeous fashion show that highlighted the Chef jackets that were designed by Chef Tata herself. It was a night full of new tastes and new people. Chef Tata is very talented and seems to have tapped into that talent through food, art, fashion and more. I hate that I didnt get a chance to meet her and talk to her but I am grateful to have experienced all that she created.
