Sistahs Do Brunch – Black Girl Power Edition was awesome! This event brought out mothers & daughters of all ages for an afternoon of fellowship, connecting and sisterhood. It was held at Wombtique, a holistic womb healing boutique in Roswell, Ga. owned and operated by Tanya Tibbs. Our focus was on mothers and and their daughters. As the venue filled up with women young and mature I just knew that it was gonna be a success. Before I RECAP it for you I simply must thank all involved.

Sistahs Do Brunch – Black Girl Power Sponsors:
First we welcomed speakers, sponsors & guests. Then we discussed Sistahs Do Brunch and why it exists and why this Black Girl Power Edition is so necessary. Our very first ice breaking activity was for each person to give 3 compliments to everyone in the room. The catch was the compliment cannot have been repeating more than once. In other words if the recipient has received the compliment already then the giver had to say something else nice. This was the perfect way to open up our meeting with good vibes and positivity. After it was over we had everyone say some of the compliments they received out loud!
We then brought all of our young ladies forward for a candid talk about Internet Safety & Social Networking. Many of the mothers were surprised that they hadn’t heard of the more popular social networking apps. The girls were told what they should and shouldn’t be doing on the internet. I spoke to them about privacy and online “stranger danger”. We also discussed Cyber Bullying and the negative effects that it can have and more.
The Brunch Menu included freshly made sub sandwiches, Baked Ziti, Sweet & Sour Meatballs, variety of fresh fruits & vegetables.
After lunch was over, Sherita Daniels, spoke to our young ladies about femininity and hygiene. It was nice to have the mothers in the room to give consent to the conversation about menstruation and the power of the female body. The girls listened intently as some of our mothers shared their experiences. Sherita very gently broached this subject and left the girls with 3 bits of advice:
Always be prepared.
Protect your Magic!
Be Pretty & Nice!
Kimberly Isis Thomas, led our ladies on a path to a vision boarding activity. She talked to them about their dreams and how to implement and manifest them through positive thinking. She also talked to them about living their purpose.
Your purpose is in the fabric of your being. ~isis
Tanya Tibbs closed with a truthful talk on the safety of feminine products and the benefits of the womb healing that she offers at Wombtique. She also spoke about the importance of womb care for generational health. Her “scrub making” activity was a huge hit with mothers and daughters coming together to create their very own scrubs using ingredients like: lavender, frankincense, peppermint, aloe, chamomile, nettles and more.
It is my wish and my prayer that every young lady left this event feeling loved and informed. I hope that they were able to take away something useful and beneficial to their well beings and their futures. Judging by their smiles and hugs I would say that this Sistahs Do Brunch was a success. Thank you again to everyone who pulled together to make this event a success including my mom, husband and my sister, Shelley. Thank you! Stay tuned for more from Sistahs Do Brunch in the near future.
