The One World Doll Project featuring The Cynthia Bailey Prettie Girl’s! Collector’s Doll

It was so cool getting to meet Ms. Cynthia Bailey of Real Housewives of Atlanta at Blogalicious. She was very warm and patient with us as we posed for pics and all acted like we know her personally because we see her on TV. (Heeey Cynthia!) I was even more excited to learn that she has inspired a new doll that has been fashioned in her image by The One World Doll Project. Imagine A Future - A My Black Is Beautiful Documentary

As an attendee of Blogalicious 5 we had the opportunity to experience some of the initiatives that major brands have created that relate to African American women. One of the key sessions that stood out to me at this years conference was the “Imagine A Future” documentary that was shown and the Q & A with film maker Lisa Cortes that occurred after the screening. Presented by Procter & Gamble’s My Black is Beautiful campaign, this poignant coming of age film asks and answers a very … Continue reading

Why is Our Natural Hair Unacceptable?

Here we go again folks. Another little child suffers the consequences of wearing her hair natural. Apparently, Deborah Brown Community School a public charter school in Tulsa, OK believes that natural hair styles such as afros, locs, etc… are faddish and unacceptable and violate the schools dress code. Parker, who’s a barber, said school officials at Deborah Brown told him Tiana’s hair didn’t look presentable. “She’s always presentable. I take pride in my kids looking nice,” said Parker. - Fox23.com As you can see here … Continue reading

Chloe St. John - The Shih-tzu Puppy That Stole Our Hearts

I did something that I said that I’d never do. Yes, I broke down and got my daughter a dog. I have nothing against dogs but was just never a pet person. I never desired to deal with the care or maintenance of a pet. Not with 4 kids in the house, no way. As a reward to my daughter for excelling in school and fitness in the summer we offered her a choice between a puppy or a cell phone. We didn’t really … Continue reading
