The Natural Hair & Beauty Quarter Auction to Benefit The Lupus Foundation

I had a WONDERFUL time at The Natural Hair & Beauty Quarter Auction. It was my first time attending a natural hair event of this kind. They were auctioning off donated natural hair products and 100% of the proceeds went to benefit The Lupus Foundation. This event was hosted by none other than Carnella Harvey of Natural Hair Freedom and Altonia Dugar aka “The Lupie Chick“. It was held at the eclectic Urban Grind Cafe. It was a FULL house as each guest came in and … Continue reading

Many have balked at this particular system because it places finer, thinner hair in the “1” group (the 1st hair type), while coarser, thicker hair is placed in the “4” group (the last hair type), Here are the definitions of each type & sub type … Continue reading

Juneteenth - Atlanta Parade & Music Festival 2014

Juneteenth is a celebration that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Coming from Indiana I was surprised that Atlanta didn’t have very many MAJOR events going on to memorialize this day. This year I was invited to Juneteenth - Atlanta Parade & Music Festival and I was more than happy to attend. This event happened in the park behind the Shrine of The Black Madonna Bookstore here in Atlanta on June 21st - 22nd weekend. It was two days of cultural celebration, unity, … Continue reading

Jimi: All is By My Side ~ starring Andre “3000” Benjamin
Jimi: All is By My Side ~ starring Andre “3000” Benjamin I am a huge, huge fan of Outkast and specifically of Andre 3000. The Love Below is STILL in heavy rotation on my MP3 as is Stankonia and Aquemini. I think he is a brilliant artist and a very talented actor. I enjoyed him in Idlewild (2006) and also as Mark Wahlberg’s brother in Four Brothers (2005). In this biopic on the legendary Jimi Hendrix, Jimi: All is By My Side, he will play … Continue reading
