My friend and travel business partner, Sherita Daniels and I have joined forces to bring exciting group excursions to Atlanta. With the success of our Wine Brunch Tour we decided to keep the momentum going. Wandering Wine Country was supposed to be a couples day trip to Dahlonega, Georgia. Our itinerary included Gold Mining, Waterfall Watching, Brunch,Wine Tasting, Live Music.
Mother Nature had different plans for us. She sent freezing rain, snow and temperatures. Weather reports from North Georgia indicated much worse!
Neither rain, nor sleet, nor even snow could keep us from our destination! Even though some of our couples cancelled and 2 of the locations on our itinerary recommended that we visit another day due to inclement weather we made it happen! With a late start my rag tag crew bundled up, gassed up and formed a 3 car caravan to North Georgia!
Shout Out to Drive Shop for loaning me this gorgeous 2016 Mazda Grand Touring to make the trip!

Wandering Wine Country – A Day Trip to Dahlonega
It was cold, it was rustic and it was the most fun! Once we got in town we stopped at The Crimson Moon Cafe for Live Music, Signature Drinks and Southern Cuisine. It was warm and cozy in there. We enjoyed listening to sounds of Mark Stokes. You can check him out on Instagram @TheMarkStokes. I loved the country decor of this place and especially The Moon Coffee House where they serve Organic Coffee, Tea, etc and baked goods.
We enjoyed a hearty meal that included Shrimp & Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes and Crab & Lobster Fondue. Since the Bob Marley tribute that was scheduled for that evening was cancelled…we headed to the closest winery.
We were already familiar with Cavender Creek Winery from our last wine tour. They were open so we stopped in. Tinkerbell greeted us in the parking lot and walked us in.
For our wine tasting I focused on my favorites: Sweet Wines (Muscadine grape blends), specifically the Farmhouse Peach Wine that I love so much. I also tried a new red and a sweet sangria.
Because of our late start this day trip ended in the early evening. A beautiful crisp cool evening with a near full moon. What a wonderful day in the country with friends. We hit the winding road that leads away from Cavender Creek Vineyard with our arms full of bottles of wine and our hearts full of great memories. What happens at Cavender…. Stays at Cavender!
