When one of my favorite sistahfriends invited me to join her birthday celebration, she said, “Hey, I wanna do something different this year. Instead of meeting for dinner and drinks at a restaurant, let’s check out The Great Taste Tour.”
What is The Great Taste Tour?
It is a fantastic tasting event that travels from state to state gathering together local chefs, artist, wineries and gardeners to provide a sumptuous tasting event. Filled with entertainment, art and celebrity guests this combination equaled one hell of an evening!
Happy Hour!
There is no better way to kick off a tasting tour than with a happy hour!! Beautiful libations were prepared and served by Noriko Boston of Cocktails in the Kitchen. The Lemon Berry Honey Cocktail was to DIE for!
Culture
While guests sipped, chatted and mingled we were able to view the beautiful artwork by artist Ramel Jasir
Dinner
Former “Chopped” Chef Roshini Gurnani and Chez De Chellis served up a glorious 4 course meal while Urban Vines kept the libations flowing throughout. Pairing each course with full bodied wines was brilliant. Everything from the wine to the vegetables used to accent each dish were grown or created locally.
Course 1: A Deconstructed Gumbo. Course 2: Homemade Pasta with Duck Ragu. Course 3: Pork Tenderloin/Spring leaves with Duck and a Seafood Sausage. Course 4: Poached Peaches
Urban Vines Wine Company served us a Pinot, a Chardonnay and a Burgundy. (I think… after awhile I wasn’t sure what they were giving us!! lol)
Live Entertainment
Vintage Nation performed LIVE and a cappella with acoustic and electric guitars to lay behind the vocals. They were amazing and had the crowd grooving all night. Most of their songs were original.
Celebrity guest Anthony David was also in the house!
So to RECAP this recap…we got gourmet food, celebrity chefs, locally made wine, works of art, live music, and a chance to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend. I couldn’t ask for anything more! I had an awesome time and I will definitely be in the house for the next Great Taste Tour in Atlanta and you should be too!!
