Since 2006 I spent a considerable amount of my time online creating spaces where women and children can gather to learn about Black beauty, African American history and more. I have made it my mission to use TheSistahCafe.com and Our Natural Kids as positive platforms to promote Black businesses, community, film and events. We live in a world where it seems that the Black woman is constantly under attack physically, emotionally and sexually. In this society our beauty is often overlooked. Our attributes and style are stolen but credit is never given. When we “lean in” we’re called sassy or bossy or Bitch so I thought we needed a space where we could just be. I have made it my purpose and my business to Lift Black Women Higher through the online spaces that I created and EVERYthing that I do.
Steve Harvey’s SOAR Retreat is all about Lifting Women Higher and I am glad to be a part of this positive movement! This uplifting retreat will take place in Miami October 16 – 18, 2015 and will be a 3 day no holds barred experience. Here are 5 concepts that will be the focus:
