My kick off Sistahs Do Brunch micro event was AMAZING! The venue was bright and trendy our private room was enclosed in glass so open, but cozy. It was held at the beautiful Social Vinings Restaurant during Sunday brunch hours. Everyone was able to enjoy a not only delicious but gorgeous brunch, with mimosa’s, as well as an option to order from the main menu. One by one what I consider to be the most incredible minds in Atlanta walked in. My intent in keeping this event small was never to exclude but only to ensure that all voices could be focused on and heard.
After everyone arrived and introductions were made, I spoke briefly about why each attendee was invited to Sistah Do Brunch. With it being Women’s History Month I thought it was important to celebrate sistahs who have mentored and motivated me. True sisterhood amongst Black women does exist and I think that it’s necessary to recognize as well as express that and I think I did.

As we enjoyed brunch we passed around a bag full of questions that relate to entrepreneurship, social media and management. It turned into a real conversation because everyone had lots to add as they answered the questions. This must be what it was like back when colleges weren’t just specific places with classrooms and buildings, but any place that true knowledge was being shared.
Jai Stone riveted us with her expert knowledge on brand and relationship building. Ronnie Tyler enlightened us on the importance of time management and scheduling. Melisa Alaba shared with us how she manages her home and family while also maintaining her business and writing books. Tarin Boone spoke to us from her perspective as a young entrepreneur. We all talked about our motivations and even our failures as we travel this road to success. We talked about our backgrounds and how they led us to doing what we love.
We sipped mimosa’s and continued our conversation over dessert. We covered topics such as:
Work/Life Balance
Filtering out the noise
Men Vs Women (Is there a difference in the way we do business?)
Goal Setting
Effective Networking
Sisterhood
Sales & Marketing
Best Practices
Technology
The list goes on!
Sistahs Do Brunch ended with the presentation of “Brunch Bags” that were sponsored by the following companies: Aio Wireless, Friends Fun Wine In A Can, Jessicurl, Pure Apple Publishing and Sistah Buttah.
After the event was over we continued the conversation online and were able to give away 2 additional Sistahs Do Brunch Swag Bags on Instagram. Congrats @MsLawanda and @KeyStrokesByKimberly!!
Because of all the awesome responses and feedback for the very 1st Sistahs Do Brunch event you can be sure that there will be others. Stay tuned!!
