It’s here!  It’s here.  Fantastic Four is here and it is AWESOME!  My 13 year old daughter and I got a chance to check out a private VIP screening here in Atlanta last week.  She is a HUGE Marvel Comics fan and since I was too when I was her age it was great to see a movie that we could both enjoy.  She LOVED it and so did I! With this being a reboot using younger characters to play the classic roles of Johnny Storm, Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm it was a FANTASTIC mother/daughter night out.

If you are a fan then you already know that Fantastic Four is a movie about a group of young outsiders who must learn to work together, enduring daunting trials and enjoying the glory of triumph an attempt to change the world in a way no one could have imagined.

The movie was very cool. The actors, the cgi effects, the story line.  All of it was perfection.  I’m an old school sci fi head so alternate and dangerous universes are my thing!  This movie had all that.

There was controversy over whether the role of Johnny Storm would or could be played by a Black man.  I want to say for the record that I am glad that Michael B Jordan was selected for the role.  He is a beautiful, young Black actor and was perfect for the role.  He had the right “fire” for the role no pun intended and his energy really added life to the movie.  I personally think that its about time some color was added to these super hero films. I mean come on…  OK.  I’m not going to go into all that but he did a great job and it was especially nice to get to see him in person to introduce the movie.  He was in the house along with actress Kate Mara (Sue Storm) and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm).

This will for sure be the beginning of a series of movies.  This is only the start and I can’t wait to see more! In this one we see how everyone got their special abilities and watch as they learn to harness their skills while they have to save the earth.  Check out the trailer below:

Not only was it a great movie but it was fun hanging out with some of Atlanta’s favorite celebs who joined us with their families to screen this movie at Atlanta’s Cinebistro, a luxury dinner movie theater. Big Boi from Outkast, Ludacris and Bone Crusher were all in the house along with many other celebs.
