I spent a wonderful afternoon with Santeyonne and her MIY (Make It Yourself) crew. For those of you who don’t know Ms Santeyonne Powell, she is the owner of Pura Body Naturals. Pura Body Naturals is a wonderful line of handmade, all natural hair and body products that contain ingredients from the Amazon Rain Forest. (I am a huge fan of the Cupuacu Hair Butter!) They are locally owned and operated and have been a very generous supporter of Our Natural Kids since its inception in 2010. When I heard about the MIY: Shampoo Bar meet up I was very eager to check it out.
This private event was filled with sisters from all over Atlanta. We snacked on beautiful cupcakes and listened intently as Santeyonne not only taught us how to make natural shampoo bars but also spoke about the significance of each ingredient.
This lesson included hands on instruction with full supply stations. Each station had everything needed to create 2 full bars of soap that we could take home with us.
I really enjoyed the sisterhood. Everyone was so helpful and pleasant. I was glad to run into L from NaturalReview.com. Together we blended our ingredients into our bases, added fragrances, butters and oils, and eventually set our master blends into molds. We were able to network with one another as our soaps cooled.
It was very good to know that in addition to Pura Body Naturals that Santeyonne also owns ExoticButtersandOils.com. It was even better to find out that she is going to host even more of these MIY classes. I will be there!
