Miss Naturals Pageant & Enrichment Programs

Atlanta is full of fun activities that include children.  There are several organizations set up to cater to the growing needs of our kids and you don’t have to look very far to find them. As the mother of a tween girl, I was happy to find out about  Miss Naturals Pageant & Enrichment Programs.  Founded by Organizer, Tachia Peck, it is set up to meet the needs of the African American girl between the ages of 5-18.  Although the focus is on encouraging self acceptance for little girls with natural hair, Miss Naturals is for all girls and this wonderful program is full of educational workshops on self-development, self-care, self-love and more.   Each time they meet young girls are greeted with love, hugs and smiles as they are taught to mingle and interact socially.  Workshops, seminars, social outings, pageants are all part of it.  My daughter and I were in attendance at the launch party back in April, and we also attended the recent Meet & Greet for Miss Naturals.  We had a great time networking with other like minded moms.  Samplista’s, a trendy urban beauty boutique served as the gathering spot.

As we sat in the meeting area of this gorgeous upscale space you could see the excitement in the faces of every girl in attendance.  Decadent cookies and other refreshments were served as founder, Tachia Peck spoke to the parents and the young ladies about the enrichment program what it offers and the future plans for the program.  Entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Yah Tay Keaton of Young People Talk with Yah Tay (https://www.facebook.com/TalkWithYahTay), was there and spoke about her role in promoting Miss Naturals.  Blogger and educator, Shelley Stanton, of GrownUpCurl.com spoke about the importance of positive self esteem and growing concerns in today’s education system.  

Each participant was asked to stand and introduce themselves.  Some of the girls were very nervous at first, but that quickly went away as they presented themselves to one another.  Miss Naturals events will be going on throughout the summer with a pageant in October.  Next event: Children’s Hair Care Workshop!
