Film maker, Bill Duke has done it again. Last year he brought us the award winning documentary, Dark Girls which was an expose of painful and real issues as they were experienced by dark skinned women. This time he shows us the other side of the coin with, Light Girls. In the same fashion as Dark Girls, Light Girls will go deep into African American society and the reality that was faced by some of our lighter skinned sisters. Colorism is real and I am glad that someone is finally bringing these conversations to the fore front. I live tweeted along with the airing of Dark Girls last year and plan to the same with Light Girls. You can see my follow up post to Dark Girls Here. Light Girls airs on OWN in January 19th, 9/8c.
