I had the pleasure to attend Kidz Vuz 3rd Annual Back to School Bash here in New York City. As a parent it was amazing getting to meet the many vendors that were in attendance.  Most of the businesses represented are family owned and operated.  These were the vendors that stood out to me the most.

lucky-bar

The atmosphere was quite pleasant, my first stop after hitting the registration table was Lucky Bar. This business owner specialized in making kids protein bars for the picky eater.  Lucky Bars come in several flavors.  I talked with the owner, Jaime, and she explained how she came up with her many recipes to assist in helping her son.  Just like my 2 year old he is very selective in what he eats and Lucky Bar helps aide in providing protein. I took home a strawberry bar as well as a coconut bar and let’s say my picky eater won!

easy-peasy-patches

Next stop was the Easy Peasy Patches table. This mom and business owner specializes in creating permanent stick on fabric patches for the kids who want to add some flair to their clothing or accessories. The cool thing about Easy Peasy Patches is that no sewing or ironing required. The patches can be used for anything.  I think it would be a good product for wear and tear and helps to preserve play clothes.

The Juicy Juice table was up next.  Here they introduced some new flavors and twists to their drinks. I like they are a brand that has been around for years.  Adding a little flavor will help to please children’s taste buds. I tried their new splashers which had a blend of vegetable juice in it to promote vitamins A, C, and E.  Juicy Juice Splashers and Teasers (a special blend of teas and fruit juices that are low in sugar and great for the kids) are available in stores now.

zandra

My last stop and ultimate favorite stop I must say is when I met a young African American girl named Azariah Cunningham.  She is only 15 and started her own natural skin and lip care line called Zandra’s Beauty.  She makes Soaps, Sugar Scrubs, Body Washes and More.  Her mom and dad were there to help and were  pretty busy giving out mini hand massages and lip balms to all the young girls who attended the event. I was quite pleased to be able to squeeze a little time in to congratulate this young CEO and her parents for supporting her and believing in her to help achieve her dream. I received a mini massage myself with her Lemon Berry Mint Lotion.  I also scored a cute lip balm that not only works to keep my lips from being dry but my skin from looking ashy too! She was an amazing young lady and I cannot wait to see what the future brings for her and her product.

You can check out her TedX Youth debut here

Overall, I quite enjoyed myself and meeting many of the vendors that were in attendance.  It was fun getting Back to School ideas and finding out about new things. I look forward to attending future events sponsored by Kidz Vuz in the future on behalf of The Sistah Cafe!

What are some of your favorite Back to School items?
