Actor Tyrese Gibson gave the closing keynote for the 2016 Pay It Forward Academy. The entire event took place July 21 – Sunday, July 24, 2016. This breakfast was a beautiful end to another wonderful year of giving back to well deserving students. Held at Atlanta’s Intercontinental Buckhead it was a soiree to remember and the attendees and their parents were treated to a gourmet food, entertainment and more! I got to attend and it was an honor to meet and enjoy the festivities with these young people.

When I spoke to Tyrese prior to this event he talked about his growth from being selected for that now famous Coca Cola commercial 25 years ago to reaching his currents heights of where he is today.
During his keynote Tyrese shared insightful information with the Pay It Forward Academy participants on the importance of college/life after high school planning as well as the dedication and perseverance needed to pursue your career goals. He got real candid with them when he talked about not letting anyone steer them away from their dreams and not to worry about what other people think. Being an individual was a key point that was stressed by Tyrese. He pointed out that your individuality is what leads you to your purpose.

The Coca-Cola Pay It Forward program is in its 5th year and is open to high school students, grades 9-12. This program awarded 25 teens a $5,000 scholarship in addition to the opportunity for them and their mom/guardian to attend the 2016 Coca-Cola Pay It Forward Academy.
The kids received their scholarships and had meet and greet with Tyrese afterwards. It was an amazing event. Stay tuned for next year’s application date announcements and for your chance to get your teen enrolled in this life changing program.
