7 Ways to Create Simple Summers of Learning AND Fun for Your Kids

summers-of-learning-funKids love nothing more than being out of school and summer time.  Sometimes it can be a challenge finding things for them to do that will keep them both interested AND busy.  Summer Camps have gotten to the point where they cost an arm and a leg and the free ones are not quality.  Fortunately as a Work At Home Mom I get to stay home with my daughter, which means that I must come up with fun and creative ways to give her a Summer of learning and fun!  Even something as simple as getting out the hose creates fun memories that last a life time.

Keeping things simple and educational and at the same time inexpensive is easy.  Here are some of the things we will do this summer.

Start, cultivate and harvest a garden/container garden

Play OUTSIDE

Exercise

Visit the local library

Visit museums

Attend Atlanta’s (or your town’s own) cultural festivals & expos

Take a trip that is within driving distance

Keeping things simple and fun makes Summer memories.  We’ve done this several summers in a row and its full proof.  I did not always have the luxury of being home with my older children.  I cherish this time with my daughter.  Before when I couldn’t stay home I incorporated my village of grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors and friends to help me with my children to create the same effect.  I also have sent them to various Summer camps for whatever interests them.  Whatever you decide to do for or with your kids this Summer, remember learning and fun should be the key themes.

What do you have planned for your kids this summer?
