It’s been an awesome summer!  All the of the kids are heading back to school and I am trying not to celebrate too much because it makes me a little sad!  LOL  I know. I know.  I should be happy to be sending them on their way, after all I have 2 college students that I will be getting rid of, ahem… I mean sending off. My two college students are my sons and they both attend school out of state. When creating the right care package for my boys I do not need to spend time on the frilly or the pretty.  All they want is their goods.  So this mom doesn’t have to go over board creating a gorgeous display for them to rip open and discard.  All we have to do is load the items directly into the trunk!! With them both attending school out of state I like to make sure they are stocked up at the beginning of the year.

The thing about creating the right care package for your college student is knowing what they need and understanding what they want.  Their needs may vary.  I have one son who plays football so he requires things like protein bars and high energy snacks.  He works out daily and watches his food intake.  My other son is a book worm who also works while at school.  He often likes to burn the midnight oil studying so caffeinated beverages are his thing.  Here are 3 tips for creating the right care package for your college kids.

Everyone needs school supplies

School supply prices are doubled and sometimes tripled in the stores surrounding most college campuses.  It’s better to buy them before hand or when there is a sale and you can stock up.

The perfect snacks

Each kid is different when it comes to snacks.  They like what they like.  Make sure you are including things that they like to eat and if possible are healthy for them.  I know you can’t be there to monitor, but sending the right snacks can help them and you save money.

Be sure to include cleaning supplies and toiletries

My boys know that I don’t play when it comes to cleanliness.  This means that they need to keep it clean at home AND away from home.  Make sure you can include some of the things that you know they will need like, detergent, cleaning wipes, toilet paper etc.

Lucky for me I was able to purchase everything that they need at our local Walmart.  Since everyone loves Dr. Pepper selecting that for their care packages was a no brainer.  Dr. Pepper comes in a variety of options and its very easy to find inside the store.

Flavors include: Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper TEN, Diet Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper Cherry, Diet Dr Pepper Cherry, Caffeine Free Dr Pepper and Diet Caffeine Free Dr Pepper.

I am so proud of my sons and will do everything that I can to keep them hydrated, clean and motivated as they continue their education.  If you have a  kid that is attending college listen up! Starting August 20th, at participating Walmarts, students will be able to play a digital football toss game for a chance to win $20,000 in tuition. Yes you read that right – 20K in tuition money from Dr. Pepper! Dr Pepper will be giving away free prizes as well as an additional $5,000 in tuition to one lucky winner in each market at select Walmart locations.
